Preliminary Ideas

I chose to look at a product to promote a web based information service for the 2012 Olympics to be held in London. The Mp3 Speaker would be given away free by simply accessing the New web information page http://www.olympicgold2012.co.uk/ and inputting your details. The speaker needed, therefore, to be quite a cheap and cheerful product representing some aspect of the Olympic games specific to London 2012 and also to advertise the web site. There were a few images I looked at but decided to focus on one of the new olympic buildings as I thought it would make a great shape for a speaker.

I started with basic sketches of The London 2012 Aquatic Centre.

From sketching I quickly went to model making, first in plasticine to explore the 3D shape of the aquatic centre.

After establishing the shape I made a card model in the sizes required to house all the internal components of the speaker.
